After taking the course students will have acquired both theoretical knowledge and practical experience related to the usage of mathematical models for analyzing economic problems and finding optimal plans. MJRI.10.014 Baltic Sea Region Economies 6 Trasberg,V. The objective of the course will be to analyze the economic environment and changes of the Baltic Sea Region in the past decade. The course will examine structural changes in different sectors of the economy after EU enlargement. Particular interest of the course will be on diverse economic policies of the countries in the region (monetary policy, labor policy, social policy, regional policy, other) particularly in frames of EU policies.

The key ambition in this course is to make students aware of the fact that there are alternative theoretical assumptions concerning: what knowledge is, how human beings learn and - how knowledge and learning is related to action. Students should also realize that depending on which theoretical assumptions they choose to believe in they will prefer very different approaches, when trying to manage knowledge and innovation.
